Progressive council in Sydney's North West require a HR Officer, 3-month role, immediate start, great rates.

Your new company
A forward-thinking council based in Sydney's bustling North West require a HR Officer to join on a temporary basis, to cover a leave period. You will be joining a committed and close-knit People and Culture team who are currently planning strategically for the year ahead, following a recent restructure. You will be required to commence the role immediately until the end of September, with the possibility to extend. The office is walking distance from the train station and there is affordable paid parking on site, you will also enjoy a 35 hour working week and flexible working hours.

Your new role
As a HR Officer, you will be supporting the delivery of HR initiatives across the council. Your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing accurate and timely advice and support to the council's Line Managers and staff regarding P&C policies and procedures.
  • Support the council's recruitment and selection strategy by partnering with various business areas to facilitate panel-style interviews.
  • Coordinate employee on-boarding activities and associated recruitment administration.
  • Interpretation of NSW Local Government (State) Award and other relevant legislation.
  • Maintenance and uploading of employee data into CHRIS21 (HRIS)


What you'll need to succeed

  • You will possess a tertiary qualification in Human Resources or other relevant discipline.
  • You will have experience in the interpretation of Fair Work Awards and associated Australian Employment Law.
  • You will have demonstrated experience providing HR advisory support within a similar environment.
  • You will have demonstrated experience in the use of CHRIS21 or a similar HRIS.
  • You will have exceptional written skills and experience in the preparation of memos, reports and letters corresponding with People and Culture initiatives.
  • Experience in a similar role within Local Government will be highly regarded.
