Volvo Group Australia has a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner to join our Volvo Group Trucks Operations (GTO) team. You will be action orientated and customer focused to support the development of key strategic Health and Safety initiatives at our GTO International Manufacturing Wacol Plant. This role is initially being offered on a 12 month fixed term contract.

About the role:

  • Ensure consistent implementation of Health and Safety management systems and associated policies, plans, procedures and processes
  • Promote best practice in Health, Safety and injury management
  • Drive continuous Health, Safety and Wellbeing improvements
  • Provide Safety advice and recommendations to management
  • Undertake compliance reviews, risk assessments and other safety activities in accordance with HSE legislation and Volvo Group policies and procedures
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of safety training including educating employees in safe work practices, including actively developing Safety Volunteer Members
  • Active participation in the site Safety Representative Committee
  • Coordinate and schedule annual fire and evacuation training for all employees including emergency equipment operation for safety representatives
  • Conduct Risk Assessments for plant, equipment and processes
  • Report and review safety performance and monthly statistics, ensuring all incidents are investigated, recorded and actions implemented
  • Partner with department managers to identify new Job Safe Procedures (JSP) needs, develop and implement to employee groups
  • Support Safety Advisor and Training Facilitator with Volvo Production Systems (VPS) focus area through 
  • Maintain injury management and workers compensation procedures and reporting ensuring compliance to Q-Comp and Work Cover requirements while identifying continuous improvement strategies
  • Provide assistance and advice on Injury management and well-being to make recommendations to various managers
  • Participate in  as required incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis/EWOs

 About you:

  • Valid QLD qualification in Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator
  • Workplace Trainer Qualification - Certificate IV in Workplace Trainer / Assessor
  • Tertiary / Diploma qualified in OHS, Environment Management desirable but not essential
  • Proven work experience in injury management and the return to work processes for QLD gained within a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Broad understanding and experience in completing risk assessments and audit processes
  • Previous experience in working with a diverse workforce to negotiate through conflict and drive cultural change
  • Previous experience in implementing well-being initiatives at a strategic level
  • Sound understanding of HSE legislative requirements and workers compensation
  • Analysis and problem solving skills
  • Time management skills with an ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Intermediate / Advanced in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with capability to manage conflict at a management level
