POSITION
The manager Fitness for work is a key component of the health and safety branch, you will have a proactive, forward thinking approach leading continuous improvement managing the drug and alcohol and fatigue risk management program. Reporting to a forward-thinking Manager WHS Programs, you will drive the risk management plan across a diverse operational environment. This is an exciting role for someone who has led strategic drug & alcohol and fatigue programs across businesses focusing on optimal safety outcomes.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the development, implementation and continual review of the Drugs and Alcohol Risk Management Procedure and associated frameworks and testing protocols and their alignment with the OneRMS Safety management system and strategic RMS safety objectives
  • Provide subject matter expertise to inform RMS’s strategy for managing the risks resulting from impairment of Drugs, Alcohol and Fatigue in high risk environments, consistent with industry better practice and aligned to Transport for NSW principles
  • Procure and manage the Drugs and Alcohol contracted services portfolio including managing supplier relationships, delivery of services and contract management, to maximise program delivery across all Roads and Maritime workplaces, ensure compliance with WHS legislation, standards and relevant codes of practice and optimize value for money
  • Provide SME advice and support to enable the Branch and Divisional Leaders to implement the Drugs and Alcohol / Fatigue Procedures effectively
  • Provide assurance to management regarding Drugs & Alcohol testing compliance for the organization
  • Ensure that recommendations arising from investigations arising from implementation of the Drug and Alcohol and Fatigue risk management procedures are objective, supported by evidence and developed in consultation with the concerned business unit
  • Operate with a high level of autonomy and be accountable for the quality, integrity and accuracy of the contracted services provided ensuring sound financial, technological and governance management, including establishing key performance indicators and metrics to capture, report and evaluate the benefit and performance of all activity
  • Lead the development and management of the “Fit for work” portfolio including the review and implementation of the Fatigue Risk management procedure, framework and associated health testing program in alignment with the OneRMS Safety management system and strategic RMS safety objectives.



MANAGER FITNESS FOR WORK

  • Tertiary qualifications at a minimum level of Advanced Diploma or Graduate Diploma in a Health and Wellbeing relevant discipline; or an equivalent body of professional experience including demonstrated application of a significant range of fundamental health and wellbeing principles and complex techniques.
  • Demonstrate at least 10 years’ experience in leading, developing, implementing and managing drug, alcohol and fatigue management programs and initiatives in large, complex, safety critical industries.
  • Demonstrated strong program management, organisational and leadership skills including the ability to plan, coordinate and evaluate initiatives and projects.
  • Experience managing external vendors to deliver research and product development programs.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitation and negotiation skills and demonstrated success building relationships with key people in senior positions, industry representatives, other stakeholders and the community.
  • High level conceptual, analytical and strategic skills to understand individual and business needs and to apply these skills to preventative health and wellbeing strategies.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the NSW Work Health and Safety legislation
