Located in outer eastern Melbourne, our client is looking for a proven occupational health and safety professional to join the human resource team as Safety, Health & Wellbeing Manager. The safety of employees is the highest priority and this role provides a unique chance to advise the HRM and leadership team how to further improve their commitment to achieve a high performance behavioural driven safety culture.

 

The Role

The Safety, Health & Wellbeing Manager will drive safety, injury management and wellbeing initiatives to support a transition from compliance to behavioural based delivery of safety, health & wellbeing initiatives. You will focus initially on developing an Australian Safety Plan with corresponding KPIs and analytics. You will be the lead for all injury management across the Australian business, including case management across work and non-work related matters.

 

To be successful and effective in this role, you will:

  • Be a leader who is committed to a progressive and preventable approach to safety improvement and injury management;
  • Lead by example and know how to energise and collaborate across the business;
  • Demonstrate exceptional influencing skills and a successful track record of implementing safety systems;
  • Be comfortable and confident in making recommendations to management;
  • Be experienced in root cause analysis of safety incidents and all elements of injury management and return to work strategies.

 

The Safety, Health & Wellbeing Manager will report to the Human Resource Manager and provide safety, health & wellbeing advice, guidance and hands-on support in relation to a range of initiatives. In conjunction with the HRM and members of the leadership team, you will deliver the agreed safety, health & wellbeing initiatives. You will be comfortable providing strategic input and pre-dominantly hands-on operational delivery.

 

About you

As the ideal candidate for this exciting position, you must have a strong and diverse safety, health & wellbeing background with demonstrable experience and success in leading and executing engagement in safety initiatives, injury management and designing and implementing safety systems.

With a high degree of professional and commercial acumen, you must have a track record in implementing contemporary, behavioural based, safety, health & wellbeing initiatives and successful stakeholder management. You will provide functional leadership to meet and exceed Company expectations as measured by established KPIs. As a strong leader, you understand how to deliver exceptional results through people and can demonstrate your ability to build and nurture a high performance safety culture.

 

Your Experience

To be considered for this exciting position you must have relevant post-graduate qualification(s) in OH&S or related disciplines or, a relevant undergraduate degree and, significant experience in a Senior OH&S Advisor/Business Partner/Manager role.

Experience in logistics, production, product development, sales and marketing environments advantageous.
