Our client is a NSW government department working with children, adults, families and communities to improve lives and help people realise their potential.

There is an immediate opportunity for a Project Officer with an HR background and experience in government to support a large recruitment process. The role will commence as soon as the suitable candidate is available until the end of August with a view to extension. Working hours are from 9.00am - 5.00pm with a 35 hour week based in Ashfield.

Your New Role:

Assistant Project Officers are responsible for assessing Care Leaver Applications and accessing sensitive client files to provide clients with family history enquiries.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology to inform internal decision makers
  • Support HR Policies, procedures and monitor risks
  • Review and advise with workforce planning, policies and procedures
  • Assist and support organisational recruitment and assess current recruitment strategies
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support project completion in line with project plans
  • Source, collate and compile data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on project progress against established milestones and deliverables
  • Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs, to support informed decision-making and planning

Skills Required for the Role:

  • Demonstrated HR experience in a similar role and within a government environment
  • Demonstrated experience as a trusted advisor for recruitment, risk management and implementing HR strategies
  • Previous experience working in a high volume support role
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and deal with a variety of activities
  • Intermediate MS Office skillsA team player with a can do attitude
