The Site Safety & Training Coordinator position is an “influencing role” and exists to support, train, educate and enhance existing skill levels of site based employees; working collaboratively with people to identify and mitigate risks associated with a range of high risk activities. This position has a dotted line reporting responsibility to the WMA Training and VOC Manager.
Objectives and Accountabilities including but not limited to:
• Organize, Facilitate and work collaboratively with employees, conducting a range of practical work method demonstrations and assessments
• Generate and update supporting documentation (VOC’s, Risk Assessments, SOP’s etc.)
• Support site work stream leaders and management across a range of safety initiatives, offering tools, process enhancements and expertise
• Periodically assess competency across a range of high risk activities and maintain the competency register
• Coordinate activities for new employees including but not limited to; “on the job” training, (as part of an on-boarding plan) introduction to safe working methods, (as per SOP’s) Safe Act Observations and VOC.
• Conduct a weekly site safety assessment (GPI)
• Conduct targeted safety assessments
• Deliver clear concise presentations to workgroups, leaders and managers Continuous Improvement
• Initiate and follow up the continuous safety improvement in relation to warehousing & distribution processes
• Work across all functional areas to optimise and streamline process with emphasis on safe operating
• Ensure the highest standards of 6s are applied to the work environment and all employees participate in the program Compliance:
• Maintain understanding, comprehension and application of various current legislation, regulations and policies
• Ensure record keeping and filing is maintained in compliance with ISO 9000 requirements
• Ensure that all related SOPs and templates are adequately maintained and updated, to reflect latest requirements Measurements
• Safe Act Observations 20 per week
• GPI (in collaboration with leaders)
• Practical demonstrations 1 per shift per day (own or facilitate)
•Periodic reports and returns Weekly - on time
The ideal candidate with have a minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Approximately 12 months experience in a safety related position, with significant exposure to risk analysis, hazard control, safe work processes and improvement methodologies.
