APRA is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Business Partner to join the Employment Relations and Wellbeing (ER&W) team within People & Culture for a 12 month parental leave cover.

Reporting to the Senior Manager and having one direct report, you will play a key role in partnering with APRA leadership and employees to provide advice and strategic support around all employment relations and wellbeing matters and initiatives, including work, health and safety best practice.

Our Employment Relations & Wellbeing team is responsible for ensuring a safe place of work and contributing to maintaining a people focused culture. Being a proactive and forward thinking individual who is able to consider risks from all perspective and provide coaching to ensure the best outcome for individuals and APRA, you will be empowered to identify and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Working at the operational and strategic level, the ER&W Partner liaises closely with the broader People and Culture team as an escalation point for people related matters.

Over the next 12 months, the key priorities for this role will be the successful implementation of a new Enterprise Agreement and corresponding policies and the implementation of a revised Work, Health and Safety Management System.

These projects will be in addition to providing guidance and mentoring to the Employment Relations and Wellbeing Advisor and BAU case management work as required.

The 12 month role will include:

  • Developing a strong profile, network and relationships to become a trusted business partner across APRA
  • Working with the Senior Manager, ER&W to drive and implement a new Enterprise Agreement, including playing a key role in the on-going bargaining process
  • Collaborating with Executive Management and other key stakeholders to create people and culture solutions for their teams
  • Finalising, implementing and imbedding a revised effective Work, Health and Safety Management System
  • Liaising with the Executive and Work, Health and Safety Committee regarding the implementation of the Work, Health and Safety Management System
  • Ensuring all staff and managers have been inducted and trained into the revised Work, Health and Safety Management System
  • Working with managers and building manager confidence in dealing with employee related matters, including but not limited to conduct, performance, health and wellbeing
  • Drafting People and Culture policies and coordinating the review of all current people policies
  • Mentoring and upskilling the Employment Relations & Wellbeing Advisor
  • Elevating awareness, support and engagement of key health and wellbeing and broader People & Culture initiatives, programs and projects with the support of the Employment Relations & Wellbeing Advisor
About you:

You will currently be operating as a business partner with a number of years’ experience providing guidance and advice at senior levels in managing employment relations and WHS / Wellbeing matters. You will be a strong relationship builder, influencer and coach and have solid commercial acumen.

To be successful you must have the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and a hands-on approach within an ever changing business environment.

You will have a demonstrated ability to sensitively and empathetically manage employment relations matters and possess a tertiary qualification in HR, Law or a related discipline. Legal experience and experience in a financial services organisation or professional services although not essential would be highly regarded.
