About the Role

The primary function of the WHS Co-ordinator is to support the WHS/Risk Manager in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Workplace Health, Safety and Risk Management framework for LiveBetter.  This includes identifying business needs from a Workplace Health, Safety and Risk Management perspective, review of existing Workplace Health and Safety programs and tools, and assisting in the development and implementation of a new framework.  This includes workplace health and safety systems, policies, procedures and vendors and encompasses safety, workers compensation and health and wellbeing.

Some core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Workplace Health and Safety strategy in line with the broader LiveBetter people strategy.
  • Work with the HR team and service teams to gain an understanding of business strategy as it relates to Workplace Health and Safety needs, develop and deliver ad-hoc WH&S requirements.
  • Management of Workers Compensation Claims and Return to Work.
  • Assist in the development of and establish a new workplace health and safety framework including for ongoing implementation by the HR team and service teams.
  • Support the WHS/Risk Manager across Workplace Health and Safety deliverables.
  • Conduct workplace investigations, meetings, evacuation drills and workshops.

  • Minimum qualification Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
  • Accredited & experienced Return to Work Co-ordinator.
  • At least three years’ experience in a Workplace Health and Safety role.
  • Experience in the management of workers compensation claims and the development of suitable duties plans.
  • An understanding of and ability to apply current workplace health and safety legislation, standards, guidelines and risk management principles.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of new Workplace Health and Safety tools and programs.
  • Expert knowledge of current trends and best practice in Workplace Health and Safety management.
  • Ability to gather and analyse information from a range of sources and formulate effective pragmatic Workplace Health and Safety solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Competency in workplace investigations, problem solving and decision making.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple activities, prioritise and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be an active team member.
  • Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to travel, including some overnight stays.

 

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or capacity to obtain.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor managers on people matters and provoke positive change in people development.

 

You will also be required to pass a National Criminal Record, Qld Blue Card and a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening.
