The team is looking to continue moving forward in these key areas through the appointment of a high calibre OH&S Environmental Manager based at one of their key manufacturing sites west of Melbourne on a 3-month contract.
The Role
The Safety and Environmental Manager will lead a small team responsible for ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with Safety, Environmental and Quality standards across the manufacturing plant, storage facilities, transport network and site based offices. They will lead the safety committee and all employees in plant risk assessment, traffic management, managing chemical processes, manual process improvement and increasing the shared safety culture. They must also ensure all facilities, equipment and vehicles utilised on site are compliant with regulatory, internal and customer driven standards.
You will be responsible for maintaining safety programs through leading, training and mentoring. You will be experienced in driving all safety and environmental initiatives in line with with all current codes of practice (eg. ISO14001, ASNZS4801) and liaise with government bodies and regulators including WorkSafe, WorkCover and the EPA to ensure the plant is compliant.
Responsibility will also include the transport network connected to the site, that will require leadershp in the form of road safety, driver fatigue and general safety program management as well as instill safety conscious behaviors and beliefs.
The environmental focus will consist of maintaining the sites' environmental program including introducing energy efficient initiatives, decreasing emissions, recycling programs, waste management, water usage optimization and waste water/Effluent treatment.
Skills & Experience
- OHS certification and preferably be Degree Qualified in Environmental Management, Manufacturing, Engineering or Similar
- 3-years experience either managing or consulting both in both Safety and Environmental fields
- Genuine passion and enthusiasm for the environment and workplace safety.
- Energetic, hands-on and coaching/mentoring leadership style.
