Who we are

News Corp Australia is the nation's largest media company operating over 150 household name brands across print, digital and multimedia including The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, The Herald Sun, The Australian and news.com.au.  We are proud to be a central part of News Corp, a leading global network of powerful brands in news and information services, sports programming in Australia, digital real estate services, book publishing, digital education and pay-TV distribution in Australia including Fox Sports, Dow Jones, Harper Collins, Realestate.com.au and The Wall Street Journal.

An exciting opportunity exists for a talented Chief Subeditor to head up the subbing department of the award-winning taste.com.au editorial team, located at the NewsLifeMedia head office in Surry Hills.

Who you are

Due to an internal promotion, we’re looking for a Chief Subeditor - a great team player with strong food subbing experience and an excellent track record within the food magazine environment. As well as a passion for food, you'll be creative, organised, efficient and able to spot a typo or error quickly. You'll also have over 12 months of experience subbing recipes for a consumer-facing food publication. You will be process-oriented and ready to lead, organise and mentor the team at Taste. Importantly, you will thrive on being part of a high-performing team of professionals who are committed to content excellence. We need a real self starter in this role with fantastic communication and time management skills.

You have a solid understanding of the industry and can take control of the internal processes to ensure that the Taste magazine and content is published on time.

The Role

As Chief Subeditor you will work primarily on taste.com.au magazine (Magazine of the Year 2017), but you will also be the key lead on the brand voice across all our platforms including cookbooks, website and social media. As well as maintaining a high level of editorial accuracy, consistent with the magazine’s brand profile and style requirements, you will support the Managing Editor with the day-to-day running of the magazine and managing editorial workflows ensuring each issue meets the production schedule.

This is a career-changing role offering a fantastic opportunity to work within a fun, friendly and energetic team on a powerhouse multi-media brand. Experience working on digital content would also be an advantage but not essential.

What’s next?

This full time role is based in our lively Surry Hills office in Sydney. There’s an on-site gym, coffee on tap, and plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars nearby to keep your work/life balance healthy. We offer competitive employee benefits, a fun, fast-paced working environment, and excellent opportunities for growth and development.
