About the Role

Based in Chinchilla or Miles, you'll be leading the creative and innovative agenda for the Arts and Cultural function and we can assure you this role has a lot to offer. As a passionate art advocate, you'll be responsible for ensuring the arts is strongly represented through the region and your expertise in this area will mean you'll be able to see new opportunities within the community.

To support this vision, you'll collectively work with community arts groups to empower and build community capacity so that together the Western Downs can become recognised and celebrated leaders of the arts.

Along with managing the Arts and Cultural team, you will be responsible for building upon government partnerships at a local and state level.

Reporting to the Communities Manager, you will:

  • lead the team and implement strategies to maximise growth in Arts and Culture (including visual, performing and public art along with supporting heritage, galleries and museums);
  • empower creativity and capacity within the Western Downs to better engage with the Arts community and other key stakeholders; and
  • identify value-add opportunities that provide remarkable arts and cultural experiences to Council's and the community's annual calendar of events;

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • hold a relevant Degree or Diploma in Business, Arts, Creative Industries, Public Relations or another similar field, or be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience; and
  • have proven experience in the management of staff, for the delivery of community programs and projects.
