We are looking for a highly motivated and flexible individual to join our News team undertaking casual shifts, rostered on an ‘as required’ basis covering weekday breakfast and afternoon, along with weekend shifts.
The successful applicant will have a Journalism qualification; at least two years’ experience in a radio news room; proven strengths in news gathering, preparation and presentation; an excellent grasp of news and sport affecting the area; an understanding of the general operations of a radio newsroom; and the motivation to be a key part of the team.
The successful candidate will also possess the skills to:
- identify strong local stories, research and follow-up;
- multitask and prioritise, problem solve and meet deadlines;
- write with impact, interest and accuracy;
- work with true initiative and minimal supervision; and
- use social media and update websites.
