Detail information about job Graduate Journalist - WHS & HR. Terms and conditions vacancy

We are looking for a person to find and write news, features and analysis about human resources management and workplace health and safety for WorkplaceInfo.com.au and WorkplaceOHS.com.au.

You will be cold-calling people on the phone to find news, get comment, check facts and carry out interviews. We will send you to conferences and events to build your knowledge, to meet and develop contacts, and to report on what’s happening. You will be also carrying out web-research and writing summaries of reports and WHS/HR developments around the world.

You will also help with proofing and sub-editing. You will help create a daily news wrap-up and will carry out general editorial administration such as posting on social media.

About You:

We are looking for someone who could become a commercially-savvy, news-finding journalist.

Our top priority is to find someone who is already a good writer in Plain English (as opposed to academic-style writing). So we will look favourably on applicants that have been in paid employment as a writer – whether that was as a freelancer, a casual or a full-time employee. We are also interested in hearing from you if have done a substantial writing internship or other voluntary work experience.

As this role is focused on finding news, we are looking for someone who is a natural networker. You will need to feel comfortable talking to and listening to people.

As our products are aimed at an audience of commercial people, it’s important to us that you have an affinity or empathy with the interests of the business community. You should also have developed a strong work ethic through being in paid employment. So please tell us about any bar, restaurant, supermarket or any other kinds of jobs you may have had.

About Us:

Visit www.workplaceinfo.com.au and www.workplaceohs.com.au to get a better understanding of the publications you will be writing for.

WorkplaceInfo and WorkplaceOHS are both owned by the NSW Business Chamber (https://www.nswbusinesschamber.com.au), a not-for-profit organisation. The mission of the NSW Business Chamber is to help create a better Australia by helping businesses reach their potential.

While applicants should feel an affinity or empathy with our mission, you should however note that you will be working as a reporter for our websites. Accordingly, you would not be directly involved in any policy, advocacy, charitable, public interest or other such work of the Chamber.

So if you are a graduate, have an affinity with the commercial world, have studied one or more of our target subjects and are comfortable talking to people, then we’d love to hear from you.

Interested? Click on the 'APPLY' button, attach your resume/CV and cover letter and submit your application!

For any further queries please contact [email protected].

Closing date: Wednesday 1st August - All applicants will be contacted after this date

We will look forward to seeing your application soon!
