Do you love kids? Can you play piano and are you a trained singer? Are you wanting part-time work around your other creative pursuits?

Canberra Academy of Dramatic Art (CADA) is an award-winning drama school based in the Australian Capital Territory.

We are seeking a casual singing tutor to join our team, principally to assist on our after-school musical theatre ensemble programs but also to provide private singing lessons to interested children.

On the musical theatre programs, you will work with kids aged 9-15 and teach the children the song repertoire to a performance-ready standard. You must also conduct vocal warm ups and work with the show's Director to achieve his/her vision of the show.

In private classes you will work one-on-one with students. 

This job may suit a voice student or recent music graduate looking for a fun and interesting way to apply their skills. 

Some teacher training and mentoring will be provided to the successful candidate.

Hours: You must be available on Mondays and Thursdays from 3.45pm-6.15pm for class in Term 3 and 4, as well as other mutually agreeable times for team meetings. Performance weekend for the next musical will be 8-9 December and you will be required to attend and assist at that time.  

Private singing lessons can be arranged to suit you on weekday afternoons, evenings and Saturdays.

There is also opportunity for additional work on our musical theatre school holiday programs and future musical productions in 2019.

Essential:

  • Knowledge of vocal health and safety
  • Qualification or ongoing study in music
  • Capacity to play piano
  • Must be reliable and punctual.

Advantageous:

  • Past experience working with children and young people
  • Ability to confidently manage a class
  • Diploma of Music, Musical Theatre, or Bachelor degree with a major in Voice

Pay bracket falls under General Staff in the Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award.
