About the business
The Dax Centre engages with students, teachers, artists and the general community, to provide education on mental illness and trauma, promote mental health and reduce stigma towards mental illness. We do this through educational programs and art exhibitions that feature the artwork of people with a lived experience of mental illness or psychological trauma.

About the role
The Collections Manager at The Dax Centre has responsibility for:
- Managing exhibitions at the Dax Gallery
- Managing the Cunningham Dax Collection of artwork
- Managing the loans of images and image publications
- Developing and managing an acquisition policy and process for the collection
As well as these responsibilities The Collections Manager will build strong relationships with artists, curators galleries, museums and other key stakeholders and partners.
Skills and experience
The Dax Centre Collections Manager will have:
- Three or more years' experience in managing a museum collection or art collection
- Demonstrated experience in developing policies and procedures for management of a collection
- Proven ability to develop strong relationships and networks across the arts sector, and other relevant sectors, to increase awareness of a collection
- Experience working with a team of volunteers
- Experience in mental health literacy is desirable
This role will suit someone who loves working in a small team, is a great communicator and enjoys collaborating within a small team environment. Strong organisational and planning skills are a must with a proven ability to be hands-on, flexible, resourceful and cost-conscious in a small team environment.
