Detail information about job Broadcast Support Technician. Terms and conditions vacancy

There is currently an opportunity available for a Broadcast Support Technician to join the team at our Martin Place Broadcast Centre, in the heart of the Sydney CBD.  This role provides the technical support required to serve the production needs of the programs produced at this facility.  This is the chance to join a team of passionate technicians who collaborate to maintain all the broadcast equipment depended upon by our customers, and to be involved in the design, installation and commissioning of the latest technology.

Seven is recognised as one of Australia's leading media companies. We are Australia's largest commercial television network.  Martin Place is the centre of our network News and Public Affairs operation and the home of Sunrise, The Morning Show and The Daily Edition.  It is a fast-paced environment where every day is different and where the technology plays a fundamental role in delivering powerful storytelling.

You will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all studio production equipment, field / ENG production equipment and other broadcast infrastructure at the site.  This includes video and audio equipment as well as IT systems where used for broadcast applications.  Your job is to keep us on air, ensuring a high uptime and availability of all facilities.  You will also develop close relationships with operational staff and work together on facility requirements, problems and outages.  Preventative maintenance is also a high priority – ensuring that systems are backed-up and monitoring their status, performance and capacity.

The person we are looking for has a passion for broadcast technology, and finds fulfilment in bringing their technical skill to enable the customer to achieve their production goals.  You will love working in a team of people who share their expertise in a variety of fields, you will have an insatiable appetite for understanding how everything works, and you’ll continually look for ways to enhance the services we offer.  You remain calm and think clearly under pressure and will always logically and systematically approach a problem.  You are obsessive about maintaining clear, accurate, and up-to-date documentation and drawings.  You are self-motivated and proactive.

You must have a strong customer focus, a sound understanding of broadcast engineering fundamentals, and the ability to operate television measuring equipment and tools. You will need a basic understanding of electronics, and of the administration of Windows and Linux operating systems, and IP networking fundamentals.  You will need to be an expert in at least some areas of broadcast engineering or IT.

It would be an advantage if you have previous experience in a broadcast engineering, support or broadcast IT role, and if you have direct experience with the systems we use.  Project management and install experience, mechanical ability, or advanced IT skills would also be viewed favourably.  It would be helpful if you have production or TV operations experience.  Formal qualifications in electronics, engineering or IT would also be highly regarded.

This position involves rotational shiftwork, including night and weekend shifts according to operational requirements.  The work will involve manual handling of heavy or bulky equipment and may involve occasional off-site work.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate wishing to broaden their skill base and join a dynamic team, working with the latest digital technology within a fast-paced News and live production environment.
