The Role:
The Technical Editor will oversee all products within one of the main sales divisions within Tempo, ensuring all Instruction Manuals, artwork for product packaging, and websites are well written, free from errors and easy to understand.
Duties and responsibilities:
The job responsibilities include, but they are not limited to the following:
- Language sub-editing
- Checking and correcting spelling, grammar and syntax
- Rewriting instruction manuals, or parts of them, that do not make sense, are irrelevant or are worded incomprehensively
- Assisting graphic designer with any changes required by the client
- Substantive content editing
- Sourcing additional information, if required, and incorporating it into existing documentation
- Updating existing Instruction Manuals according to clients’ style guides
- Ensuring al issues raised in product testing by the Engineers are appropriately addressed in the product manual
- Writing and / or editing the romance copy, making sure the marketing angle and selling features are appropriately highlighted
- Proofreading
- Checking packaging and other product documentation to ensure it complies with style guides and certification requirements
- Checking illustrations in product manuals for accuracy and print quality / reader friendliness and manipulating them in line with any changed text
- Ensuring technical data / features on the product packaging are correct against client contracts
Who we are looking for:
- A high level of grammar, spelling and language skills
- A high attention to detail
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign Software
- Knowledge of effective layout principles for reader-friendly publications
- A team player: liaising with other relevant Tempo staff (sales, engineering, compliance)
- Time management skills and ability to produce documentation to tight deadlines
- Technical knowledge / interest in AV, CE, and CA products
