Utility Software Services (USS) is a privately owned Australian owned company, specialising in Customer Information Systems for deregulated energy markets. USS are energy market experts in the niche billing and supporting ecosystems for Retailers, Distributors, Embedded Networks and Billing Operators. USS has developed purpose built SaaS cloud solutions that enable new retailers to challenge old industry models. USS design and deliver innovative solutions and provide professional services to energy retailers to seize market opportunities of ongoing reform & disruptive technology innovation.

Our team is comprised of trusted advisers from the energy retail industry & CIS vendor community, they bring a wealth of experiences to help clients realise better outcomes from their investment in systems. We provide a full suite of front and back end software services to allow our clients to focus on their core business.

This role is situated at USS head office, which is based in Camberwell, Melbourne.
 

About the Role 

• You will assume technical responsibility for all stages of the software development process to ensure compliance with application development standards and achievement of documented requirements
• You will utilise technical expertise in the requirements analysis phase to ensure the solution is both fit for purpose and fit for use
• You will provide on-going 3rd level support of developed applications to reduce the impact of application defects and related incidents
• You will design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards. 
• You will be participating in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code. 
• You will package and support deployment of releases. 
• You will be able to balance competing demands to ensure application development objectives are achieved

Skills and Qualifications Required 

• Degree in Business or Technology in a related field or equivalent experience is preferred
• At least 3 years of experience using Java, AngularJS, MySQL and some devops exposure
• Solid understanding of object oriented programming concepts
• Solid understanding of relational database design and querying concepts
• Familiarity with version control concepts
• Strong operational management, project management, consulting, technology and process improvement skills
• Strong operational, problem-solving and process skills
• Strong communication and people skills
• Utilities experience is highly desireable
