This role is situated at USS head office, which is based in Camberwell, Melbourne.
 

About the Role

Reporting to the CTO this key role carries responsibility for the design, development and oversight of the implementation of end to end integrated solutions..

We are seeking a highly experienced candidate with the drive, energy, personality and passion to manage the delivery and support of the technology, infrastructure, security, vendor management and digital solutions

Key

• Design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated solutions
• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes to ensure the highest quality product platform
• Define, review and enforce development standards
• Collaborate with Project Managers, vendors and IT stakeholders to provision estimates and develop overall implementation plan for installation, customisation and integration efforts
• Provide expertise to identify and translate system requirements into software design documentation
• Develop, document, and communicate solution architecture and design; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives
• Lead and implement re-engineering initiatives to improve system quality, reliability, maintainability and security
• Develop and manage a systems capacity plan
• Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
• Survey market landscape for solution insights, direction, vendors and methods
• Provide mentoring or guidance to junior members of the team
• Troubleshoot code level problems quickly and efficiently

Additional skills highly desirable:

• Highly Proficient (minimum 3 years) in Java , AngularJS, MYSQL
• Experienced in AWS cloud technologies
• Proven experience in system design and development.
• Proven experience in system and network design and development
• Proven project planning and management experience
• Comprehensive understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), continuous integration and Agile software development methodologies
• Experience in automated testing and quality assurance
• Knowledge of architectural styles and design patterns
• Experience in Release management, preferably in multi-tenanted environment
• Experience with service oriented architecture (SOA)
• Experience in security practices and testing
• Experience with DevOps
• Strong operational management, project management, consulting, technology and process improvement skills
• Strong operational, problem-solving and process skills
• Strong communication and people skills
• Experienced in mentorship and guidance of personal and technical development
• Knowledge in utility industry highly regarded
• UI/UX design skills a plus
