About the role:
You will be part of a global team that leverages, improves, designs, implements, and delivers end to end services to our customers. These services aim to automate application provisioning and manage the underlying Infrastructure as a Service, incorporating all layers: from compute through to storage and network.
You will help accelerate our Application teams’ ability to reliably and consistently deliver applications, by developing standardized automation to control, build, artifact, and deploy managed services.
You’ll work on:
- Supporting our highly available application platform with different technologies in order to reach our goal of moving to a cloud-based platform.
- Collaborating with Developers, Networkers, Systems, Storage and Database Administrators, and Project Managers on projects and providing technical support.
- Troubleshooting and resolving time and mission critical incidents and issues.
- Being proactive and innovative to drive continuous improvement and efficient technology solutions.
- Identifying problems and performing root cause analysis by using monitoring tools – and at times, troubleshooting issues across the entire stack: hardware, software, application, and network.
- Participating in the building of tools and processes to support the infrastructure, leveraging scripting as required, and documenting configuration processes and policies.
What you'll bring:
- Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years in Systems Administration, Software Engineering or DevOps, networking in a large scale complex environment.
- Along with a minimum 3 years’ experience of application build and release engineering in SOA architectures.
- Excellent understanding of software engineering methodologies and development lifecycle / open source development.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent technical and communication skills, strong teamwork mindset, and the ability to manage projects
- Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and across teams and countries
- Willing to learn on the job and explore new technologies
- Strong focus on business outcomes and mindful of customer SLAs
- Able to participate in the 24/7 On Call roster of the team as required
- Proficiency in Technical and Troubleshooting Skills:
- Linux operating system
- Deployment and infrastructure configuration management tools
- Good understanding of Containers deployment technologies (Docker, LXC, etc),
- Understanding of relational database concepts (Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, etc) and noSQL technologies (CouchBase, MongoDB, Hadoop, etc)
- A good understanding of security information and event management technologies, along with monitoring tools and concepts (Kibana, ElasticSearch)
- Good knowledge of scripting languages (Shell, Python, or Perl, etc), and understanding of programming languages (C, C++, or Java, etc)
- Understanding of Cloud systems (OpenStack, CloudStack, AWS, etc), and virtualization technology (EC2, Xen, KVM, OpenStack)
- Networking Communication Protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, HTTP/S), Load balancing techniques, traffic routing, and caching for distributed applications, scalability
