oobe has a rapidly growing Search & Data Analytics practice and we’re searching for a Search Engineer (ah, the irony). Our Search & Data Analytics practice needs more hands to help with deploying solutions to new customers. We want people who are end user focused, are passionate and want to work with some of the best people in the industry.
 

This role is client facing and typically project based. Whilst strong skills in Search technologies would be advantageous, the right attitude and a solid technical background will go a long way. We are looking for people that are willing to immerse themselves in new technologies and, whilst they might already have a specific specialisation, are comfortable working across multiple products or learning new specialisations.
 

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a development background, with solid Java and modern web technologies experience

• Be able to speak fluent JSON, XML and XSLT, and read log files for fun

• Understand security models such as Kerberos and SAML, and web security best practices

• Know their way around the Linux shell and scripting

• Be a fan of version control and backing things up

• Happily work unsupervised as part of a small team

• Be a good communicator

• Have a computing related degree of some sort and be keen to keep learning new tricks

You’ll get bonus points for:

• Previous exposure to the GSA, Fusion, Elastic, Solr, Lucene or some other relevant search technology

• Sharepoint and .Net development experience

• Machine Learning/AI skills

• A solid understanding of web analytics

• Being able to pronounce our company name and never capitalising it

• Having a sense of humour and a security clearance

oobe has a long history of delivering successful projects across the Australian Federal Government and enterprise sectors. As such, experience working in medium to large organisations and / or government with the demonstrated ability to take on various challenges and to think and work at scale is preferred.
 

Ideally, this position will be based within one of our 4 current locations of Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne or Wellington, New Zealand, and includes potential for interstate work to support our clients from any of our offices.
