The contractor will be required to work in the Integration and Data Operations team on a variety of operational initiatives and support projects as required. However, the primary role of this position will be to perform operational activities at the discretion of the Principal Integration and Data Solutions. The Analyst Programmer provides a high degree of technical and analytical assistance in identification of opportunities and solutions to system problems and is responsible for delivering business solutions involving information technology that satisfies agreed customer requirements. A detailed level of knowledge and experience in software integration is required.

Technical Requirements

The primary duties will be:

  • Work with users to understand detailed requirements, especially the more complex system requirements;
  • Design, code, test, modify and install programs for a variety of applications;
  • Develop and maintain process, system and functional documentation, including data models;
  • Actively participate in team support tasks within the required timeframes and preparing reports as required;
  • Undertake complex analysis of systems, including diagnosis and correction of faults;
  • Liaise with vendors for fault rectification;
  • Identify process improvement opportunities;
  • Undertake required support/maintenance tasks;
  • Undertake System Test, Planning & Management, Systems Integration Test Planning & Test Case Development and providing guidance to users for User Acceptance Test Case Development;
  • Prepare appropriate functional, technical and process documentation including liaising with clients to clarify/understand their requirements;
  • Perform and track regular and periodic software adjustments (e.g. rolling periods, parameter management etc);
  • Install, configure and roll-out of applications as well as perform minor software upgrades and apply software "patches" as required;
  • Design specification and build Data Conversions and interfaces;
  • Identify, plan and manage the delivery of major upgrades; and
  • Develop and maintain user security profiles for relevant applications.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary information management principles and technology, standards and services in a service environment;
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of systems analysis, programming techniques, system integration techniques and software quality assurance with a proven ability in developing corporate applications in large organisations. Including ability to diagnose and correct system faults;
  • Demonstrated ability to engage the client and advise on technology solutions to business requirements utilising a high level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience in system to system integration as part of enterprise application integration using the Oracle Weblogic products, including demonstrated experience and understanding of Oracle Databases;
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of Java/J2EE technologies on the Oracle Weblogic Platform or similar (eg IBM Web Sphere). Experience with technologies such as web services, XML, EJB, JSP, JMS and JDBC. Basic knowledge of J2EE application server administration functions to support local development environments and activities; and
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of XML and related technologies for data transformation and translation.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in the electricity industry;
  • Experience in service oriented architecture would be highly regarded;
  • Experience with Oracle SOA Suite;
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration design patterns; and
  • Experience using Test Director / Quality Centre for software test administration.
