Our client requires the Architect to design, prototyping, build and maintenance of a Linux virtualisation platform Standard Operating Environment (SOE) for the CAE that includes setup and deployment of:
o Linux kernel's; more info to be discussed.

 
 
The Senior System Engineer is required to:

• Develop the SOE's for the CAE and CDE;
• Support the development of product level specifications;
• Design, analyse and document the COFR CAE and CDE;
• Evaluate and select CAE and CDE products
• Support the integration of the CAE and CDE with other COFR components and CS subsystems
• Support the Architecture IPT Lead in the resolution of cross-IPT CAE and CDE issues;
• Proactively report progress and issues to the Architecture IPT Lead;
• Work effectively as part of the Architecture IPT and greater FSM CS team.

 
 
 Essential:

• Significant experience and knowledge of:
o Red-Hat Linux 7/CentOS server operating system design, configuration, administration and troubleshooting;
o Container platforms (Docker, LXC, LXD);
o Container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Open-shift, Red-hat Atomic);
o Linux Hypervisors and Virtual Machines (ESXi, KVM);
o Dimensioning and performance analysis of virtual processing environments including resource allocation;
o Reliability analysis of virtual processing environments, failover design. Server resilience and recovery;
o Hardware server evaluation
• Experience in:
o the application of computer security within virtual processing environments;
o Virtualised storage design, dimensioning and setup;
o Virtualised network design, dimensioning and setup.
• Tertiary qualifications in a related engineering discipline (from a recognised institution) with significant professional experience;
