About the client

Our client is a federal government organisation (which means you must be an Australian Citizen to apply) located in the Sydney CBD.

The Manager of Testing Services is currently seeking an experienced Automation Test Analyst to join their growing testing function.

Under the direction of the Manager, Testing Services, and or IT System Test Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing test documentation including test strategies and test plans, test conditions and cases according to the business’s System Delivery methodology (SDM).
• Conducting testing across different System Readiness test phases such as Systems Test, Systems Integration Test, Stress, Volume and Performance testing (SVP), UAT etc.
• Create and perform automation test scripts for regression and verification testing
• Raising and monitoring defect resolution and release.
• Producing relevant test reports and test statistics as required.
• Participating in formal reviews of key project artefacts (e.g. Business Requirements, Functional Requirements, etc.) as well as peer reviews of own and other testing documentation.
• Undertaking additional responsibilities or tasks as required.
• Responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships within the agency and may manage one or more work teams
• Working professionally, positively and cooperatively as part of the team and the business, modelling the values of Accountability, Professionalism and Teamwork.
• Taking all reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of fellow workers and any other person at the workplace that may be affected by your actions.
• Complying with and ensuring that both you and your staff understand the Work Health and Safety Policy, taking all practical measures to ensure that your workplace, including work practices, are safe and without risk to the health of any individual in the workplace.

To be a suitable candidate, you must elicit the following:

• An excellent knowledge of IT Systems Development Lifecycles (SDLC).
• Comprehensive set of skills associated with performing, planning, coordinating and managing all types of system testing.
• Some management skills, to successfully manage, encourage and develop your own skill levels
• Some management skills, including project, client or stakeholder relationships, human resource or financial management skills, to ensure the effective utilisation of resources, and management of the change impact within (and possibly across) teams.
• A commitment to customer service excellence and professional representation combined with proven ability to communicate and accept responsibilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills - especially in relation to their application to IT systems and IT delivery.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be accountable for outcomes.
• Ability to up-skill and increase your technical knowledge through self-training and on the job experience.
• Proven skills in the preparing test training material and conducting test training.
• Proven skills, or the ability to quickly gain knowledge and skills, in the use of testing products such as (Oracle Test Manager, TFS, Selenium, Coded UI, IBM Test Work Bench, XWand, XMLSpy, IBM Policy Tester) is desirable
• An understanding of, or the ability to quickly develop an understanding of, the client’s role, its strategic priorities and processes as well as the legislation it administers.
• A knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire a knowledge of, the client’s systems and underlying technologies (i.e. Java, Siebel / Oracle fusion, ESB, PeopleSoft, Sharepoint, MS Dynamics, DataWarehouse is desirable)

Knowledge and Experience:

• Solid commercial IT experience and at least 5 years’ experience in formal application software testing
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in test automation and performance Testing is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with the following toolset is essential:
• Rational Test workbench and TAF
• Oracle Load Test
• Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate
• JMeter

Qualification:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, from a recognised educational/accredited institution is desirable and/ or equivalent substantial relevant work experience (current or previous).
• Accreditation, certification and/or professional membership with a relevant industry association is preferable. (example ISTQB, ITIL)
