One of our premium clients based in Darwin is looking for a highly experienced and committed Sr Project Manager. This key role is suited to a well-rounded and experienced project resource who is comfortable working in a hands-on role to establish new projects and execute existing projects as directed. Activities will range from project scoping and development of project initiation documents, to project implementation and handover to other project management resource. In this role, you will be given the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the continued innovation and success of the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Sr Project Manager must be able to:

  • Provide strategic project management expertise to ensure delivery of projects is aligned to business requirements and achievement of strategic business objectives; delivered within allocated budget and schedule.
  • Plan, administer and manage the project activities including in some instances the supervision and direction of a team to support effective project delivery.
  • Ensure the agreed project management methodology is applied, and appropriate project governance is implemented and maintained, including risk management and change control processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with relevant stakeholders including, internal business units and project teams, other agencies and vendors.
  • Actively seek out opportunities for continuous improvement and to achieving key organisational outcomes.
  • Provide operational supervision to project team members to ensure project deliverables are achieved efficiently and effectively.

  • High energy and enthusiasm - Self-starter comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with demanding timeframes
  • Strong written and verbal communication - Ability to engage with stakeholders and influence through all levels of the organisation and externally
  • Displays personal drive and integrity - excellent problem solver and critical thinker who is able to synthesize information in order to make and successfully implement effective decisions.
  • Self-discipline and resilience - maintains a consistent and sensible pattern of behavior under pressure; proactive and persistent approach to achieving goals; copes effectively with setbacks, accepts constructive criticism in an objective manner without becoming defensive.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills - including negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution with the proven ability to influence others to achieve goals and objectives.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in leading multifaceted projects in a complex environment.
  • Sound knowledge and proven experience in project management, including formal Project Management accreditation (Prince 2 or similar) and demonstrated application in an operations environment.
  • Demonstrated high standard of stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels (including Executive staff, technical staff and end users) and utilising a variety of communications mediums
  • Demonstrated strong organisational, planning, management and leadership skills including the ability to negotiate and manage complex project components as well as client expectations.
  • Extensive experience working with vendors, internal and external stakeholders and managing relationships.

Desirable Skills

The following skills will be well regarded:

  • Demonstrated practical application of records management policies, procedures and systems, in particular relating to access controls, system design and security.
  • Change management qualifications such as Prosci (or similar)
  • Health industry experience and familiarity with clinical terminology, data and systems.
