The Role:

We’re a FinTech startup and are re-developing, from the ground up, our iOS Application with a new UX, a new UI and a replaced codebase.

We need an accomplished iOS Developer to take sole charge of the redevelopment, reporting to our Senior iOS Developer, System Designer/Architect and Project Manager.

We need a developer with solid Swift experience (there is no Objective-C in this project) and an understanding of: Financial Applications, Networking, REST, Tests and modern development methodologies.

We especially require the successful applicant to create an efficient and easily maintainable codebase. There is self-interest in this requirement. You will have sole responsibility for the App and any explicitly unwrapped optionals (etc) that crash the released product will mean you will be up at night finding and fixing the problems.

Our work environment is second to none. You will work from home (or wherever you feel most comfortable). However, there will be regular in-person (and electronic) developer/project meetings on a daily/weekly basis.

You can set your own hours but we expect a lot of them! (We’ve been developing Apps for 8+ years, we know how long things take).  You will need to be contactable and available during normal office work hours when needed.

We are AGILE focussed but not slavish adherents to methodologies. We develop robust, useful applications in an efficient, customer-centric and time sensitive way not constrained by specific development methodologies.

This is an exciting opportunity to assist setting the direction and tone for a FinTech application that could make a difference to the disadvantaged.

This position provides a chance to be solely responsible for an outcome but have the safety net of working closely with fellow developers who have been developing applications for many years.

Key Responsibilities:

• Optimise applications and infrastructure in order to achieve high performance, availability and deliverability
• Develop and maintain front end mobile apps
• Work with others to ensure that mobile apps are QA tested to Australian standards

Key Skills:

• 2+ years experience in developing and supporting commercially released mobile phone (iOS) applications
• Experience with developing and integrating with RESTful APIs
• Experience with processing large amount of data
• Comfortable with front-end and UX development
• Experience in release management
• Experience with managing Linux environments and shell scripting will be beneficial
• Thorough knowledge of design patterns and best practices

Other Skills and Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills, you will be required to attend meetings/demos with other team members and be able to build good working relationships
• Can work closely with and incorporate feedback from product management, interaction designers and backend engineers
• Able to meet with the projects' team managers for weekly meetings
