The role

The systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the first and second line support activities within the Operations team. This includes processes and procedures to track issues from the point that they are raised by the customer or internal clients, through to verification and closure.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of issues, solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
  • Performing daily system monitoring to pro-actively identify technical related issues;
  • Security monitoring to identify any possible breach or intrusions;
  • Reporting of infrastructure and Network systems performance & security updates for management review;
  • Managing hardware or software failures, coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies;
  • Manage hardware and software failures, coordinating and communicating with all stakeholders;
  • Producing and maintaining comprehensive documentation of IT infrastructure and procedures, including external service provider engagements (such as warranty information, vendor support, etc.);
  • Track, manage and report on support issues, both internally to management and externally to customers;
  • Participate in project establishment and scoping for system implementation, and
  • Participate in project handovers.

About you

The ideal candidate will possess the following: 

  • Willing to be on call and do work outside business hours. This may mean travelling  to customer sites;
  • Take all the necessary steps to meet Service Level Agreements
  • Tertiary qualification related to IT, Bachelor of IT preferred;
  • Significant experience in an IT customer service or technical role with a demonstrated ability to manage and support computing systems in a VM environment;
  • Previous experience administering Windows Servers (2008 - 2016) and VMWare (physical and virtual servers);
  • Previous experience supporting Group Policy and Active Directory.
  • Previous experience administering storage systems;
  • Previous experience managing LAN, WAN, Backup, Disaster Recover and various security systems;
  • Possess a basic understanding of databases and the ability to write queries;
  • ITIL Foundation Certification and Vendor Certification, an advantage, and
  • Able to work autonomously and conduct tasks with minimum supervision.
