Some background info:

Consider this newly vacant position with an iconic and adored Australian Company. They’re a medium sized enterprise (over 1000 seats) and are undergoing a large transformation moving to a very impressive IT model with the very latest cloud-based technologies. Currently 60% of their services are cloud based on the way to 90%. They have adopted Agile methodology, CI/CD and have a focus on automation. The people here are capable (and likeable) and the roles have a high level of autonomy. Being a medium sized company, you’ll have a broad scope and high impact.    

The role:  

This will be the first person on board in a newly created security function, with other hires planned in the near future. This means that you will have a huge level of impact as you offer your expertise in establishing key security technologies and processes.   This role is responsible for the delivery aspect of information security services - initially focussing on Data Loss Prevention and will be the subject matter expert for a range of information security technologies.  

The role will also include:

• Having a major input into planning and delivery of security controls
• Driving the adoption / development of new security services
• Identify security controls required for new and existing digital platforms including regulatory requirements
• Identification and remediation of cyber risk and controls in projects (there is many projects planned, most related to public cloud technology)
• Educate and support technology teams and execs on security issues
• Staying current with emerging security technology, incident response, digital forensics methodology, the associated legal/regulatory requirements as well as threats applicable to the business and participate in the development of these security capabilities
• Treating control gaps and remedial actions related to information security incidents    

This is a very modern Cyber security Analyst role. We’re not after an old-school engineer/analyst, we’re after someone who has a passion for cloud-based technology, who embraces automation and has very strong communications skills (we want someone who enjoys talking to the business and is an ambassador for IT)  

You:

• modern, analytical mindset – Automation and a passion for cloud networking technologies
• Broad technical security experience across modern systems, networks, and security technologies
• Experience with Symantec DLP is preferred, although comparable experience will be OK
• Solid exposure to public cloud technologies (either Azure or AWS)
• Good understanding of technology risk management principles and knowledge of operational risk and compliance frameworks
• The ability to manage projects and vendors as well as talk with internal execs.
