As a Java Tech Lead you will provide technical leadership for a distributed Agile software development team, mentoring software engineers and defining software development practices to build a strong and lasting capability. You will work with our Architects to design solutions and oversee the technical aspects of delivery.  With the other Tech Leads you will form a technical governance capability, setting standards for software delivery including coding standards, review practices, and testing.  You will perform diagnostics and remediation of a large and complex system during critical incidents and will influence content and delivery of a backlog of platform optimisation initiatives. 

The role:

• Provide a layer of technical leadership over the software engineering community
• Drive technical solution design, estimation, and delivery for business problems adhering to the domain architectural strategies
• Upskill and mentor developers of various experience and capability
• Be a quality and best practice evangelist and provide oversight and governance of the development initiatives
• Define software quality practices and improve development processes
• Share your knowledge and experience with the developer community within Suncorp
• Make calculated, objective and justified solution design decisions

  The Ideal candidate:  

• Minimum of 5 years of Lead Software Engineering experience enabling you to share technical wisdom

• Experience with Master Data Management solutions including IBM Standard/Advance edition would be highly advantageous
• Experience supporting high availability production systems is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience with Agile SDLC on projects.
• Experience in Cloud Technologies is favourable.
• Proven Testing skills and ATDD or Behavioural Driven Development.
• Java, Spring, JIRA, Confluence, Source control systems, Continuous Delivery tools.
