About the role

The GWN is a mission critical voice and narrowband data digital network that provides secure radio communications to meet the operational requirements of Police, Fire and Ambulance within the South East Queensland region.

The GWN is the largest single deployment of Project 25 Phase 2 technology in the world, with approximately 180 radio transmission sites, 24x7 Network Operations Centre and Service Desk, 15 Public Safety Agency Communication Centres, approximately 16,000 portable and mobile radios, and services more than 17,500 frontline Police, Fire and Ambulance services personnel in South East Queensland.

Your Conntribution

• Initiate new projects and deliver high level communication to project sponsors and other key stakeholders ensuring they are briefed on projects objectives, milestones and progress.
• Scope and manage critical, high profile GWN initiatives, in order to achieve agreed objectives in a timely and efficient manner.
• Prepare relevant project documentation to a high standard, to ensure appropriate communication of project scope, objectives, status and deliverables.
• Establish plans and schedules for internal and external project activities, including financial plans and estimates to ensure successful project delivery.
• Monitor, manage and control project activities in accordance with agreed plans, including management of financial costs, risks and issues, and ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken to deliver the project on time and to budget.
• Establish and maintain strong and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including cross-agency representatives, consultants and contractors, to ensure project success.

Specifically:

• Adopt existing projects and oversee delivery of requirements to ensure satisfactory outcomes
• Provide additional level of oversight on existing high profile projects managed via GWN contractors
• Document existing business processes, update existing documentation
• Develop and scope procurement documentation for vendor selection, specifically requirements gathering for a business process workflow software-as-a-service solution
• Manage on-boarding of additional agencies onto the GWN, while improving business processes and handling new agency enquiries
• Work closely with fellow team members within a small focussed team

Key Skills

• Have successfully led complex ICT or ICT enabled projects through to completion
• Work collaboratively and effectively with the project team and stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met
• Effectively communicate project requirements and outcomes, both in writing and orally
• Understanding of software procurement, in particular requirements gathering and the software development process.
• Qualifications in PRINCE2 Project Management Methodology and MSP Program Management Methodology will be highly regarded.
