As part of the Engineering Team, the Principal Software Engineer Lead will be responsible for the daily function, quality and delivery responsibilities of a software engineering team.
The Principal Software Engineer Lead will provide direct line management of software engineers; setting team and individual goals, providing employee feedback, aligning team and individual activities to project delivery plans and addressing issues affecting productivity. In addition the successful candidate will coordinate software development activities conducting sprint planning, stand-ups, design reviews, demos, whilst always keeping an eye on continuous improvement! As a Principal Software Engineer you will work closely with Project Management, external/internal clients or consultants to ensure outcome delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline such as Science or Engineering
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
- Broad aptitude for coordinating both people and technical activities
- Minimum of 5 years software development experience (preferably Java) in a structured development environments (waterfall and agile)
- Good experience with webservices, SQL, application servers (Weblogic or JBoss)
- Experience in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Projects
- Diverse technical experience in operational environments demonstrating knowledge of application servers, middleware, databases.
- Sound knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems as position requires to ensure reliable operational fault diagnosis
- Ability to solve complex problems in the development of computer software systems
