Let's talk about the JOB:

Reporting to our GM Digital and Integration as part of a highly skilled team of technical practitioners, you will be responsible for leading the API Team.

You will build and lead a team of API Developers charged with building microservices on our new open source integration stack using technologies such as Spring Boot, NodeJS, Docker and AWS. You'll participate in technical decision making and contribute to designs by researching new technologies and best practices as well as coaching and mentoring other API Developers.

You will also get the opportunity to champion modern software engineering best practices and be passionate about writing clean, elegant and well-structured code. As part of this role, you'll also contribute to the wider software development community of practice, sharing tools, techniques and practices with other development teams.

First and foremost, you're a natural leader who values technical excellence and high-quality code whilst understanding the need for on time delivery to meet the needs of our business and customers. You’re serious about best practices and code quality and comfortable using cutting edge new tech.

You’re a highly experienced back end engineer with experience of Spring Boot, NodeJS, Docker, AWS and a bunch of other cool tech. You have a deep understanding of both SOAP/XML and REST/JSON integrations as well as API design approaches and tooling. You have extensive experience of CI/CD and working in an agile, DevOps environment.

As you’ll be managing a team of engineers, any people management experience will be beneficial. Most important will be your ability to create an awesome team culture where continuous improvement and technical excellence are the drivers behind high team engagement.

An understanding of the banking or financial services sector will be helpful but not essential.
