Bluewaters is a privately owned energy provider who is focused on becoming a leading power supplier in the Western Australian energy market.

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator who will report to the I.T. Infrastructure Manager as a key member of the IT team. This role includes both the maintenance of the existing networks and contributing to the planning, design and implementation of any new networks as required.

Position Objective

The System Administrator is a subject matter expert delivering hands-on technical capability, support and leadership to the business and related entities. The role has a diverse skillset and excels in stakeholder engagement, initiating opportunities for improvement, driving resolution of issues and following through on commitments.

The successful candidate is an IT professional, representing an experienced member of a small and agile team. They will have strong influence in the IT strategic decisions and technologies and will be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for successful operation and maintenance of
    • The Microsoft server stack
    • Complex network infrastructure spanning multiple sites
    • Multiple highly-available VMware environments
    • Enterprise storage
    • Document Management System
    • Next-generation firewall infrastructure
    • Enterprise backup platforms
  • Responsible for effective support and communication with various business units, including process control engineering and software development
  • Actively participates in knowledge sharing and mentoring
  • Effective engagement with 3rd parties to optimise business outcomes

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • At least four years’ experience as a system administrator in a small-to-medium sized environment
  • Minimum tertiary qualification in a relevant area
  • Additional certifications in areas such as networking, Microsoft, Linux and security would be highly regarded
