The Company:

RCS Telecommunications (RCST) is a leading Queensland-based company providing fixed and wireless voice and data services. Our branches in Brisbane, Mackay, Moranbah, Dalby and Mount Isa currently employ in excess of 80 staff. We provide complete end to end service delivery covering sales, design, implementation, maintenance and ongoing management backed up with 24x7 support.

The Job:

RCST is seeking an experienced Technical Support Manager - Wireless to join us in our Mackay branch. This is a residential full-time position, working Monday to Friday with reasonable additional hours. You will be accountable and responsible for the efficient technical operation delivery services and other technical services that RCST provide.

To be successful in this new role, you will draw on your natural ability to think ahead and outside the square in a busy and challenging environment. In addition, your demonstrated technical experience and knowledge of Codeplugs, P25 and DMR radios are essential. Experience within the resources/mining sector will be highly regarded.

This position is open to Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents and those currently holding a visa with the right to work in Australia.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Staff management including ongoing mentoring and performance reviews
  • Manage staff resources effectively in line with business needs and customer requirements
  • Design technical support strategies for new products and improve existing product strategies
  • Undertake programming of radios with pre-formatted programs
  • Provide technical support to customers and undertake regular site visits
  • Telephone assistance on troubleshooting/technical issues raised by technicians including after hour call-outs
  • Maintain P25 ID database and management of Codeplugs including the writing and reviewing of Codeplugs in line with customer requirements
  • Assist or undertake basic fault-finding process on equipment
  • Adhere to RCST OHSE policies and have a high regard for safety procedures

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience within a Technical support role coupled with at least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Recognised Trade qualification in Electronic/Radio Communications (Certificate IV desirable)
  • High working knowledge of a service-based accounting program (JIM2 desirable)
  • Demonstrated technical and practical knowledge and understanding of the various products and technologies that RCST sell and deploy
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (desirable or willing to obtain)
  • Demonstrated staff management/mentor skills to guide and motivate staff
  • Proven ability to interpret the complexity of technical issues that results in a satisfactory outcome
