About the Role

The role of CTO brings the necessary technical and innovation focus to support our business growth.

As CTO you will be responsible for leading the overall technology strategy and roadmap and for the development and delivery of the company’s IT infrastructure.

You will manage an internal technology team across both development and infrastructure, as well as multiple vendors, to successfully deliver innovation and change whilst utilising and optimizing current systems to their fullest.  A key challenge of the role will be to successfully “institutionalise” the IT infrastructure across the business while maintaining the agility and flexibility inherent in the current platform.       

This is a hands-on role that requires the individual to be able to switch between providing thought leadership on the IT future state and being directly involved in execution and delivery of projects.

This role has broad technology responsibilities across strategy, development, delivery, architecture, security and risk management.

Specific accountabilities of the role include;

• Take ownership of technical strategy and roadmap
• Focus on defining smart, efficient ways to use technology to solve business problems and support business growth
• Manage development and delivery with a focus on automation
• Take ownership over the delivery of new product development, product enhancements, user experience development and all other IT related projects.
• The ability to strike a commercial balance between the short term imperatives of the business and the longer term strategic objectives.
• Effective management and optimization of existing systems and networks. Our cloud-based stack includes Salesforce, .NET, AWS and SQL.
• Manage internal tech team and vendors (some offshore)

About you

You are an experienced leader of developers and/or technical teams, possibly with start-up experience and a strong appreciation for working in an agile way. You have experience operating in a fast-paced environment within tight delivery timeframes.  Passionate about technology, you are qualified with a relevant degree in computer science or similar. You have a strong interest in the wider digital economy and always thinking about how developments in the sector relate to satisfying users’ needs and requirements over time. Ideally you have financial services experience, and a strong understanding of the storage, security and data management requirements of financial data.

You will have;

• Track record of building long-term strategies while also being able to focus on concurrent delivery of short-term projects addressing business needs whilst executing a large project slate
• Expertise in utilizing established delivery methodologies and controls required for IT development in a fast changing environment
• Experience in cloud-based stack and / or material systems of record (e.g. financial services)
• A tertiary qualification such as Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Systems.
• A forward thinking attitude with a strong commercial mindset who thrives on working in a fast paced environment and is looking to apply their skills to help shape a market leading business.
