Wombat Housing and Support Services is one of the largest providers of housing related support services to people in the Western Metro Region. We are a non profit community based organisation managed by a Board. All of our services are free.

About the role

The IT and Innovation Co-ordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of a range of high quality and efficient systems and procedures to support the day to day operation or Wombat Housing and Support Services, particularly relating to innovation.

Scope

With the support of the EO, the Management Team and the Administration Support Team the IT and Innovation Co-ordinator will play a critical role in the smooth running of the organisation

Reporting and Accountability

The position reports to Wombat's Executive Officer.

Support and Supervision

The IT and Innovation Co-ordinator will participate in regular support and supervision meetings with the EO.

Duties

To carry out the duties in accordance with the philosophy, policies, work practices and protocols of Wombat Housing and Support Services, particularly the following:

  • To liaise with key IT contractors and developers to manage & maintain an efficient computer network
  • To assist in the development & management of internal databases
  • To assist with integration of technology into Wombat systems and processes
  • To maintain an up-to-date website & social media presence
  • To develop, monitor and maintain office systems such as Document Control, communications and booking systems
  • To assist the management team by finding solutions to system limitations, researching major purchases, and facilitating system upgrades.
  • To co-ordinate property and building matters (e.g. maintenance, security, storage, assets, contractors)
  • To co-ordinate & produce reports as required
  • To assist with the extraction and analysis of data
  • To assist the EO and General Manager on office related issues as directed
  • Contribute to the development of the policies, programs and procedures of Wombat Housing & Support Services
  • Other duties as directed by the EO.

Skills and experience

Key Selection Criteria 

  • Experience in IT systems including the ability to liaise with an offsite IT contractor
  • Experience in developing systems that incorporate an innovative use of IT
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of data-bases
  • A high level of skill in office related software packages
  • Experience and management in development and implementation of organisational processes such as Document Control
  • Ability to maintain an up-to-date website and social media presence
  • Ability to undertake a broad range of defined tasks or special projects such as system development, researching one off purchases etc,
  • Experience in the production of high quality reports
  • High level personal organisation and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and under direction
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for working as part of an effective team
  • An understanding of privacy issues and a commitment to respectful service delivery
  • Commitment to contributing to the development of the organisation and its desire to deliver quality services to people experiencing homelessness and related issues.
  • Capacity and ability to communicate well with a diverse range of people.
