About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated HFC Technician to take the next step in their career with one of Australia's leading services contractor rolling out the NBN Network. Reporting to Superintendent, you will join a friendly, diverse team of high calibre professionals and work closely with this team. This position will be based out of our Stapylton office. 

Responsibilities include:

• Interpreting daily work logs & network design maps
• Installation, Testing and Commissioning of HFC devices; Taps, directional couplers, GNA (Global Network Amplifiers) and Line Extenders. Installation and termination/splicing and testing of COAX cable CX50, CX75, RG6 and RG11 cables
• Installation and replacement of above ground cables;
• Installation of HFC Passive Devices (Taps both up and down, Splitters, Isolators, Fibre Optic Splicing & Joint Enclosures)
• MDU Backbone Cabling Home Run/Lateral Cabling;
• SDU & MDU Network Extension works;
• Troubleshoot basic optical issues, including using the OTDR Testing the integrity of fibre optic cables, verifying splice loss, measure length and finding faults;
• Commissioning & Reporting;
• As well as the above OTDR, utilise other HFC plant test equipment - such as signal level meters, volt/current meters, spectrum analysers, leakage testing meters, CPD testing meters, and optical meters.

About you

To become part of our team you will possess:

• Relevant qualifications in Telecommunications, with solid knowledge of at least CATV, RF Communications, Satellite Comms/TV, Optical Networks, or DOCSIS, ideally though, your experience will be HFC.
• You will be used to working in a variety of work locations and environments, including pit and at heights.
• A current Australian driver's license and a construction white card.
• NBN Enabled (or previous Telstra experience), Power Awareness, Asbestos Removal, First Aid Certificate Elevated Work Platform EWP will be highly regarded
• You must have NBN enAble ID and relevant modules.
