Our client is looking to appoint a new role within their business and as the National Systems Infrastructure Engineer you can be based anywhere along the East Coast. You will design, maintain and support critical IT infrastructure and network communications equipment associated with industrial control systems. Your focus to drive ongoing reliability and up time of these systems is paramount with a proactive approach to security, backups event/health monitoring and maintenance required to ensure these remain highly available.

As the business continually seeks more access to real time data from within these systems and the onset of digitisation, security is vital, and you will have a firm understanding of the requirements and approach needed to protect these important assets. A key focus of responsibility will be around network security and the planning of future protection strategies and assessing their ability to keep critical systems safe. This is a national role providing support to industrial sites in multiple states on the East Coast of Australia therefore there is requirement to travel.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Safety - compliance with company and statutory OHS
  • Systems Infrastructure - Management of business-critical Microsoft Windows based server systems including Active Directory based domains and integrated DNS / mixture of physical and highly virtualised (VMWARE) environments
  • Control Systems Networking Management of IT Infrastructure and software associated with proprietary DCS/PLC control systems (ABB 800xa, Metso/Valmet DNA, Siemens, Allen Bradley)
  • Historian system management and maintenance (OSI Soft PI, ABB IM and Enterprise Historian)
  • Networking - Design, implementation and management
To be successful you will require: Strong ability to troubleshoot under pressure with well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with a range of different organisational levels, you will be driven, determined, enthusiastic with an ability to work within a team and on your own initiative. A confident fast learner not afraid to take a hands-on approach.

  • Qualification in Information Technology | Degree level preferred
  • Strong knowledge of IT server hardware and operating system software (inc virtualisation)
  • Strong IP networking knowledge & proven network security knowledge
  • Hands on experience in maintaining centralised end point security systems (eg McAfee VSE, ENS and ePO)
  • Real world experience in escalation processes | escalation management knowledge
  • Experience working on Industrial | Manufacturing sites
  • Tertiary studies mechatronics, Microsoft MCSA or MCSE certified, Cisco CCNA
  • Strong exposure and experience with patch management automation processes. Including WSUS, SCCM, Chef Puppet etc
  • Good knowledge of DCS and PLC based control systems HIGHLY REGARDED
  • Exposure to enterprise historian systems | database systems management
