Network Engineer (Network Operations)

Overview of Role

The purpose of the Network Engineer (Network Operations) is to ensure the continued operation of the network and related systems by engineering and implementing solutions for expansion, new products and failure incidents.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Handle all network related escalations from NOC.
• Train NOC engineers to a level where they can handle most issues and only escalate significant problems.
• Manage capacity and plan and upgrade as required.
• Develop solutions to problems or for new products.
• Work in pairs or groups with junior network engineers to train them with “real work” network training.
• Once ready join our after hour on-call roster for NOC escalations.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Degree in Engineering / Telco / IT related field.
• 2-3 years + of hands on design/deploy/operation of a large enterprise or Service provider network.
• Professional level experience troubleshooting and configuring with CLI of at least Cisco or equivalent.
• Professional level experience with a variety of vendors networking equipment.
• Experience with a range of network monitoring and management tools.
• Excellent English written and verbal skills.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Previous technical experience with routing and switching.
• Excellent time management skills. 
• Good coordination and people skills.
• Cisco certification or equivalent preferred.
