About the job

Reporting to the Head of Technology, this is an exciting opportunity to inspire and lead the Insurance Platform Development Team. In this newly created role, you will continuously improve development practices by providing outstanding individual line management, promoting Agile principles, building team competency as well as establishing and maintaining an optimal development environment and development standards. The role is also responsible for end-to-end release management of Insurance platform deliverables to the production environment.

As Development Practice Manager you will have accountability for recruitment activities, developing and maintaining team capability and competency and ensuring quality is achieved for software deliverables.
 Specifically:

• providing training and personal development guidance and support
• monitoring individual performance and team culture against expectations and targets
• evaluating individual performance and delivering the performance reviews
• engaging with other line managers within technology
• ensuring teams members are cross-trained for job rotation to minimise coverage gaps
• developing continuous improvement program
• governing the software development lifecycle within the agreed delivery framework
• managing Technical Debt and overall code and technical solution integrity
• determining, maintaining and communicating release dates and milestones
• managing issues, risks and dependencies within the release
• supporting the Head of Technology on projects

About you

You are well known for your professional approach and extensive experience in a software development leadership role, especially in leading teams through significant change as well as experience in setting the delivery of plans and strategies.
You will bring expertise in contemporary and relevant software technologies (Guidewire related technologies, .NET (#), MVC, JavaScript, Angular JS, Web services, DBMS, SQL and Azure) and you have a “customer first” approach and easily build relationships and communicate and influence effectively at all levels.
Of course, leading and motivating the team to reach business targets and being flexible and agile with the ability to manage through rapid change will ensure your success.
