UNSW Canberra Cyber has a teaching computer laboratory which is serviced by a virtualised platform, the UNSW Canberra Cyber range. This is used to virtualise scenarios for research, teaching and training activities. This environment is a private cloud infrastructure and requires ongoing maintenance, support and improvements. The environment is dynamic and supports many features which are frequently reviewed for improvement. The classroom spaces are five computer laboratory rooms and auxiliary rooms, such as server and networking rooms. There is a dedicated space for computer forensics equipment.

About the role

• Level 7: $91,755 pa (+9.5% super and leave loading)
• Fixed term – 12 months
• Full-time

UNSW Canberra has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Officer Cyber. This role has become available due to the growth of our teaching computer laboratory. You will be in a role that has a broad scope for providing high level technical support across a range of teaching, administrative and technical activities. You will be supporting multiple types of stakeholders at various levels predominantly within the classroom environment. We are looking for someone that is keen to learn as you will have the opportunity to be exposed to emerging virtualisation and security concepts as well as other technologies.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

• A few of years’ experience working in customer facing IT Support roles.
• Proven experience working with VMware & Windows Server Administrator (essential).
• Prior experience with networking technologies, switching and routing, TCP/IP and OSI in physical and virtualised environments.
• Experience in documentation around task-based processes as well as process improvement.
• High documentation skills and ability to look at process improvements.
• A degree in a relevant field (computer science, information systems, security) or equivalent experience in an industry engagement
