As the PMO Manager/Program Director you will be directly reporting into the Head of Governance & Reporting with an indirect report into the CIO. The role is responsible for managing and operating the PMO for a significant program of works within the technology space. The core focus of this role is to lead and manage the delivery of complex and high-volume programmes and projects totalling approximately $100M per annum.

It is important to note that the successful candidate will join the company at a time when the organisation is building capability through the development and implementation of new structures, methods and tools that advance maturity in the delivery organisation. As such, the PMO Manager/Program Director will play an important role in shaping this capability and progressively implementing and reinforcing new practices within the PMO and across the broader business.

This role operates in a complex and demanding setting with a strong requirement for advanced communication and stakeholder engagement skills. This includes engagement with and delivering detailed reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Due to the unique operating requirements of the company’s operators, lack of delivery and or the ability to substantiate delivery holds significant financial consequence for the business. As such, the status and success of delivery has the attention of the executive leadership team. The role will also have several direct reports and is an integral role in ensuring successful delivery of mission critical technology-based transformations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal Business and ICT stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly transformed into both operational and technology elements
  • Manage OCMS key risks, issues and change requests through effective control and resolution at a senior stakeholder level
  • Oversee and manage the development of program schedules and detailed program/project management plans
  • Manage a PMO function that ensures high quality of project documents and governance artefacts
  • Manage the development and improvement of program/project level reporting
  • Coach and mentor a team of project professionals to deliver quality outcomes
  • Manage a team effectively and work towards personal development of staff with a view of continuous improvement in performance
  • Participate in the procurement process in line with the company (including managing vendor selection and tendering processes, raising of required purchasing artefacts for equipment, software and services and managing goods/services receipting and supplier payment)
  • Maintain a high-level standard of program and project issues, risks and dependencies.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong demonstrable experience in managing the delivery of large, complex programmes of work i.e. 80+ projects with annual delivery budgets of $50M plus
  • An experienced people manager with evidence of managing diverse teams across functions (Program and Project Management, Business Engagement & Analysis, Change) and of varying levels of experience. Ideally managed teams of 20+ people and display a high level of EQ.
  • Proven experience of operating in complex, commercial environments. Ideally have proven success delivering in industries such as Energy, Transport, Telecoture-based organisations.
  • Equally capable and flexible to work at a senior program level and at a detailed project level. Given the high delivery focus, it is expected that the successful candidate will be required to move quickly from high level reporting and influencing to delving into the detail of project status, risk and issue management.
  • Certification in Project Management frameworks: PRINCE2, PMBOK or PMP, Agile, SCRUM
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or Business
  • Min 10 years in an IT Project Management roles & 6 years in Systems Project Manager roles
