Radspec Consultants, a company accredited by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) to make radio frequency assignments, requires the services of a graduate computer engineer or someone experienced in the two-way radio industry to join our frequency assignment team.

As a member of the team you will be involved in the assignment of frequencies for a diverse range of radiocommunications services, evaluation of technical proposals in support of radiocommunications licence applications, provision of technical advice to clients and the preparation of reports and correspondence.

For this role you will be required to:

  • Under limited direction, perform frequency assignment work required for the issue of apparatus (transmitter) licences.
  • Provide clients with accurate and consistent information in relation to radiocommunications licensing and frequency assignment policy.
  • Undertake technical and engineering studies including computer-based modelling of radiocommunications systems.
  • Liaise with Government agencies, industry and other organisations.

The following criteria will form part of the selection process for candidates:

  • Knowledge, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of radiocommunications licensing and frequency assigning principles.
  • Well-developed analytical and decision making skills, with the ability to give particular attention to detail.
  • Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Experience with engineering tools and methodologies including computer based database and system modelling tools.
  • It is desirable that applicants hold an engineering degree or diploma in a field relevant to radiocommunications.
