About the Role

The Manager AVS Solutions Planning and Design supervises a diverse team of technical staff responsible for researching AV technology, preparing business requirements, designing/prototyping AV solutions, maintaining consistent AV standards, and specifying detailed AV technology solutions for projects. The Manager AVS Solutions Planning and Design provides strategic leadership, develops policies and processes, and directs the work of the team to specify consistent solutions and system documentation for all projects affecting teaching and learning spaces, meeting rooms and media production facilities. The position is key to building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and within the broader AVS team and has a key role in ensuring AV technology meets teaching and learning strategic initiatives.

Skills and Attributes

• High level leadership, communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills including political acumen, and strong ability to work effectively across formal structural boundaries
• Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to develop reports, briefings and presentations for a variety of audiences
• Demonstrated technical experience in a broad range of AV technology
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and critically analyse situations, propose innovative solutions aligned with strategic and business priorities
• Ability to gather complex often conflicting business requirements, conceptualise effective solutions and prepare professional business cases and funding proposals for senior management
• Strong conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation skills
• Demonstrated commitment to respectively re-examining existing ways of doing things, generating new ideas and implementing better ways of doing things
• Strong financial literacy including monitoring project budgets, financial estimation and modelling

Knowledge

• Experience managing budgets and procurement processes
• ITIL methodology, project management and ability to prioritise multiple complex work tasks
• Establishing effective metrics, interpreting results and trends, process improvement
• Detailed knowledge of AV solutions and integration with ancillary systems, working with AV consultants, contractors and stakeholders during project scoping, specification and production of support plans, and operation and configuration of complex AV technology
• Sound technical knowledge of acoustics, AV integration and configuration

Qualifications

• ITIL Accreditation
• Crestron DM Design
• Audio and acoustic accreditation
• Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline and/or extensive relevant industry experience

Experience

• Demonstrated experience conducting product and solution evaluations
• Ability to measure and interpret statistical data to make recommendations for planning purposes and process improvement
• Proven ability to manage and direct a team of diverse technical specialists, bringing them together to work as a cohesive team, and work collaboratively with other teams
• Superior skills in managing complex stakeholder interests and expectations
• Effective reporting capabilities on projects status and financial position
• Demonstrable experience producing support and commissioning plans
• Strong solution, planning and design experience in the AV industry
• Thorough understanding of the stages of design, delivery and ongoing support of AV technical solutions (in the higher education industry is desirable)

Terms

Permanent role, paying salary package in the region of $153,738 - 163,800K (possibly more commensurate with skills and experience and inclusive of 17% super).
