Our company is interested in hiring an experienced Data Architect to work closely with our software and application development teams to recommend database structures based on the data storage and retrieval needs within each department. The Data Architect will be responsible for constantly monitoring our database and immediately addressing database issues and problems. The successful candidate will also submit reports to management that outline the changing data needs of the company and come up with related solutions.

As a practiced Data Architect, you will establish well-defined conceptual, logical and physical data models and enabling technologies that accurately reflect business needs relating to operational data, analytics, business intelligence and data management. Your expertise in developing sustainable, fit-for-purpose models and data solutions will simplify data integration challenges, while miminising data and process redundancy. Your ability to analyse system requirements and implement migration methods for existing data will enable the design and delivery of accurate and comprehensive solutions. Your work will align to the enterprise and business domain-specific Information Architecture and Data Platforms, and in turn you will exercise governance over solution and integration builds impacting your data models and solutions. You will bring an innovative edge to the organisation through your knowledge and experience of predictive analysis, data visualisation and data management tools and techniques.

Duties

• Consulting: The provision of advice and recommendations, based on expertise and experience, to address business needs at local or strategic levels. Also, support for the implementation of agreed solutions.
• Data Modelling: Creation of conceptual, logical and physical data models, aligned to the Enterprise Conceptual Data Model, ensuring all relevant information requirements are supported
• Data Solutions: Significantly contributing to selection of data management, analysis and reporting technologies. And, ensuring data integrity, accessibility and security.
• Collaboration: Leading data modelling sessions involving senior business representatives, and liaising with business and technology teams to communicate models, definitions and data architecture
• Governance: Raising or escalating solution misalignments with respect to data models, definitions and data architectures, or data standards, policies, principles and guidelines, data tools and techniques.
• Change Management: Managing the process of change and issue resolution in regards to data models, definitions, migrations and data technologies.
• Metadata Management: Ensuring the recording of all technical and business metadata within an accessible metadata tool.
• Best Practice: Contributing to the development of the CTO Strategy and Architecture Practice’s data architecture procedures, techniques and tools.

Skills and Experience

• Consulting: 3-5 years consulting with business and technology stakeholders
• Data Design: 3-5 years developing conceptual, logical and physical data models and definitions for complex solution spaces
• Business Domain: 3-5 years providing architecture leadership for

• at least one of the following business divisions: banking, wealth solutions, investments, insurance, financial advice
  or
• 2 or more of the following business divisions: credit reporting, retail, trading, online cash transfer, financial intelligence, regulatory and compliance
• Governance: 3-5 years ensuring alignment of build to approved design,
  and presenting to governance forums
