Providing the technical interface between ITS Engineering and Roadside Networks, the Network Designer is responsible for performing project consultation and review and assisting in the development of network design. The role will also provide input into strategic direction, tactical management, and disaster recovery strategies for Roadside and Corporate Networks and Transurban assets.

The impact you’ll have:
  • You’ll provide consultation and support to project teams to ensure that projects are appropriately scoped, and develop and review project designs for alignment to network requirements, minimizing cost and disruption and maximising deliverables
  • You’ll work closely with in-flight projects to ensure Network impacts are fully considered and Networks are engaged for any requirements
  • You’ll develop network solutions that improve efficiency of Transurban operations and make security a priority
  • You’ll review and provide feedback on detailed designs developed by Network Engineers and ensure they align with architectural strategy
  • You’ll implement solutions to improve the efficiency of the network, focusing on automation and simplification where possible

The talents you’ll bring:
  • You’ll be degree qualified in Computer Science, Information Platform, Information Systems, or another related field, or hold equivalent professional experience and specialised training commensurate with assignment
  • You’ll have advanced design and configuration knowledge and experience with Cisco Routers, Wireless, and Switches (including Nexus) together with security products such as Check Point and Palo Alto
  • You’ll be across upcoming Network trends such as SDWAN, SDN, Orchestration/Automation tooling and IOT
  • You’ll have worked with Networks that support Industrial Control Systems and have a strong understanding of SCADA, Modbus and PLC 
  • You’ll be self-motivated and able to manage the challenges and demands of a varied role in a highly dynamic organisation
  • You’ll have a strong ability to articulate (verbally/visually) your ideas, approach, concepts, options, risks and impacts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • You’ll have superior analytical and problem-solving skills and be a technical expert and thought leader in the Network domain
