About the role

In this role, you can expect to collaborate closely with a team of Engineers that specialize in multiple disciplines including embedded software, software, hardware and software quality assurance.  You can also expect to partner with our colleagues in the US in these disciplines plus DSP and Mechanical engineering.

Biamp takes great pride in designing and manufacturing products in-house; from the electronics design, through to firmware and DSP design, all the way to graphical configuration software.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design digital and analog circuits for next generation audio and video applications
• Define requirements for new products and develop test and verification plans
• Coordinate with FPGA, mechanical, firmware and software engineers
• Create schematics and layout PCBs
• Construct Bill of Materials
• Estimate new product costs
• Interact with materials procurement, manufacturing and test personnel to ensure products are manufactured efficiently
• Other duties as assigned by your Supervisor.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of experience, knowledge and skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years designing and developing analog and digital hardware
• Strong knowledge of analog design for audio applications
• Strong understanding of medium-speed (50-500 MHz) signal integrity concepts.
• Previous experience in designing products to meet regulatory requirements including UL, CE, FCC, RoHS and WEEE.
• Knowledge of serial communications protocols and hardware interfaces including I2S, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet.
• Knowledge of ADC/DAC design and implementation concepts
• Strong background in the use of oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and other test equipment for debugging and analysis
• Experience in verifying audio performance preferred
• Experience with Altium Schematic and PCB design tools or similar tools
• Experience in circuit simulation using ModelSim, Spice, HyperLynx or similar tools
• Experience in HDL design using Verilog, System Verilog, and/or VHDL for FPGAs and CPLDs preferred
• Experience in DC-DC switch-mode power converter design including PoE
• Excellent written communications skills to prepare specifications, lab reports, theories of operation, etc.

• Ability to lift 5 kg frequently and up to 12 kg periodically.
• Stand or sit for long periods.
