About the opportunity:

The Development Lead / Senior Developer will lead a software engineering team that builds, designs, implements and maintains Nova’s Digital Twin solution. Through exemplary drive, passion and leadership, you will manage and deliver technology integration (implementation) projects from planning through to handover/acceptance, bringing together technology from multiple vendors in an orderly fashion to collectively and progressively realise client benefits.

The Development Lead / Senior Developer will have a hands-on role in the team. You'll be deeply involved in the design and development of the Digital Twin solution. You may also be required to support developing rough order of magnitude (ROM) costs, schedules, development strategies, and prototypes to support the decision-making process.

This role will initially be offered on a 12-month contract basis with the potential for an extension.

What you will be involved in:

• Working with internal and client product owners to develop a strong understanding of business requirements and ability to develop pragmatic solutions in line with overall strategic goals;
• Influence and establish best engineering practices and architecture in the team through solid design decisions, coding patterns, processes, and tools;
• Be hands on and support development efforts;
• Act as a mentor to the team about process and tools, help team members improve their skills and deliver solutions following best practice ICT principles;
• Constantly improve the way work is done and engage the team to improve;
• Work with vendors and manage subcontractor technical resources;
• Build spikes and proof of concept (PoC) solutions;
• Research technology to stay up to date with trends and best practices and assess available technologies and recommend solutions;
• Help estimate the scope and time required to deliver projects;
• Lead the transition of the team from the development phase through to support and sustainment.

What we would like from you:

• Experience in leading software engineering teams;
• Extensive knowledge and experience of applications development methodologies, the software development and product delivery cycles;
• 10+ years of professional experience in one or more server-side languages such as Java/C#/Python;
• 3+ years’ experience of HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript (including modern frameworks like Angular and React);
• Strong knowledge of IT architecture;
• Experience in defining MVP, discussing requirements, building PoCs and prototyping;
• Experience in process automation (integration, deployment) and tests automation;
• Experience with modern DevOps concepts (e.g. infrastructure as code);
• Experience managing application and workloads on cloud platforms;
• Experience with IT Service Management processes for a production system, particularly change and release management;
• Experience in geospatial technologies, IoT platforms and/or simulation and modelling (highly regarded);
• Experience in the oil and gas industry (highly regarded).

• Strong organisation and prioritisation skills along with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, fluent spoken and written English;
