An outstanding permanent opportunity has become available in our Canberra office for an experienced IMT Portfolio Manager to join our high performing team.

About the role

The National IMT Portfolio Manager is responsible for the management and execution of Defence Force Recruiting’s portfolio of Strategic and Business Initiatives in the Information Management Technology space. The role holds responsibility for the management, administration and adoption of DFR’s Project Management Methodology and will work closely with Senior Leadership Team within DFR’s governance framework to manage and provide oversight of the entire portfolio. The role will require the acquisition of resources and the coordination and management of third party contractors, team members and consultants.

About you

Your previous focus will be in successful project and programme management focused on delivering multiple projects adhering to timeframes and required outcomes. You must be an effective communicator with a passion to achieve results and support a shared purpose and direction, this is essential to be successful in this role. You will need to be a key driver in a high performance culture with an emphasis on continuous improvement and building collaborative relationships.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years experience as a senior project manager or 5 years as a senior programme/portfolio manager in complex environments
  • Proven ability to work as a team leader with multifunctional and multidiscipline teams, sharing knowledge, contributing proactively to achieve team goals and providing coaching and guidance.
  • Formal qualifications in Technology, IT or related field
  • Project and/or Program Management Certification aligning with Prince2 and Agile methodologies.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully conduct complex negotiations and influence and persuade key stakeholders at a senior level.
