About the role
We are looking for a Manager Operate – Servers, Storage who will be accountable for the stability / availability, continued improvement of Mining / Production Infrastructure (24x7) (On Site / Edge / Cloud / Corporate) to support the APAC West Hub customers and manage and maintain common APAC West environments on aday-to-day basis.
This role is a great opportunity to join a team focused on our core APAC West Mining Assets, making sure uptime, performance of our Mining Technology Infrastructure are tuned for 24x7 production. This role is also involved in all new technology / platforms / applications coming into the Operate team and leads the APAC West Technology Servers / Storage function. Reporting to the General Manager - APAC West Operate, you will:
- Lead, manage and develop the SSH operations to ensure alignment with APAC West customers including managing the architecting, planning, designing, building and implementation.
- Drive the maximum value from technology already in place and promote the use of new technology when and where appropriate.
- Ensure alignment and focus on delivering a stable /resilient Mining / Production network for/to/with the APAC West assets.
- Support timely and cost-effective delivery of infrastructure required for new projects by making sure STS / Handover is performed.
- Continually streamline and improve the STS process to reduce the burden on projects and ensure the handovers are “fit-for-purpose” for operations.
- Accountable for optimization of costs across the SSH scope.
- Ensure connection to APAC West assets with appropriate travel (monthly at a minimum) to understand key challenges / bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement in the mining value chain.
- Provide leadership to team in articulating how their role supports the customer / Hub Model / bigger picture and manage and correct where misaligned.
- Manage, report and optimise the budget portfolio (Opex / Capex) for SSH.
- Drives continuous improvement efforts for the service.
- Promote and work within a safe environment at all times–consistently leading by example
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Knowledge of Mining Production (24x7) Infrastructure
- 8+ years of experience in delivering uptime / availability and appropriate Disaster Recovery infrastructure to support a 24x7production / mining process
- Experience in supporting and managing a 24/7 business impacting environment and managing high performance operate teams.
- Experience of working with external suppliers, including outsource providers to deliver relevant IT Services
- Managing a substantial budget and alignment with delivery priorities.
- In-depth knowledge of Infrastructure approaches including disruptive technologies
- Knowledge of SSH design, build and operate processes.
- Manage and control budget using industry cost levers
- Financial management from plan, budget and actuals
- Ability to work from requirements through to embedding – the lifecycle
- Managing customer service levels.
- Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills to ensure services received are to requirements and a partnering approach to relationships
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Ability to drive incident resolution and drive outcomes through others
- Inclination for innovation; find new ways to work including processes / vendor alignment in the SSH disruptive landscape
